NC State Fair - Home Spun Fun
When families consider relocating to the Raleigh, North Carolina area (or investors consider purchasing property in the Raleigh Durham market), one of the factors in making their decision is what is available for entertainment. One of the much anticipated events is the annual North Carolina State Fair (running since 1853). It comes in the Fall and draws hundreds of thousands of people during the 10 day event (Thursday, October 19, 2006 — the daily attendance was 103,323.). There are the usual showings of pigs, sheep, cows, chickens; horse shows; judging of cakes, pies, vegetables, flowers, and countless other items; crafters come in from the mountains to the coast, and the favorite of my children — the pig races. Of course, now my children take their children to the fair and the tradition continues from generation to generation. And speaking of entertainment — at the same time as the Fair, the NC Art Museum hosts the Monet exhibit, Eric Clapton is in concert, the Junior League hosts their annual Shopping Spree at the RBC and Wake Forest and NCSU chase the pigskin at Carter-Finley Stadium. All of this in the radius of a mile!! However, our Raleigh police and NC Highway Patrol have mastered the art of navigating and directing traffic during highly congested times and make it very simple, and we thank them for that. If you would like more information about what draws people to our area, please feel free to contact me or visit my site. We have it all in Raleigh and would welcome your family too.
